Saturday 9th April saw the 3rd instalment of the famous NYW dinner and dance.

After months of preparation and endless effort in selling the tickets the day arrived, the bar was fully stocked the tables were ready, ushers in position ready to go. The night got off to a bit of a slow start, as guests arrived, they were greeted with the sight of all the NYW trophies that have been won by the club, they were then taken to the reception area where they were served champagne and fruit cocktails, and finally they were escorted to their seats by the ushers. There they were treated with a blue heaven, the whole venue was lit in the colours of the club, the table had the famous NYW logo, which was handmade and finished by the dedicated members. Eventually the drinks started to flow, people started to let their hair down, the starters arrived and the stage programme started. The programme got off to a spectacular start with the young members of the club performing a high energy dance accompanied by the live dhol, then the serious business of thanking all the sponsors. This year saw a record number of platinum sponsors, some new and of course the lifelong sponsors. A special award was presented this year to all at Kenstar Joinery, the award was to appreciate the support they provided in the preparation for not just this event but previous ones. Then came the raffle, the prize this year was a netbook pc kindly donated by Satish Siyani, everyone had their tickets ready, and the draw took place, the winner a lifelong member to the club was greeted with chants of 'fix, fix, fix', he then kindly told Nitin to redraw the ticket.

At the bar the drinks were flowing, people were spoilt for choice with the selection, bottles were being delivered to the tables, and the atmosphere was building nicely, everyone was eager for the dancing to begin, however they all had to wait until the main course and dessert were served, and let's not forget the paans, which were kindly donated by weddingpans.com. The time finally arrived to open the dance floor, and what a response, it was full to capacity immediately and the Do's started to get the crowd going with some classic Indian tracks, the dance floor did not empty until the end of the night and to the disappointment of the crowd the event came to an end.

This event would not have been possible without all the people who bought tickets, and I am sure they will agree it was an event to remember, for those who missed will have to wait until 2013 for the next one. We would also like to thank all our sponsors, this club would not be able to run and develop without them, and finally a big thank you to all the members who helped on the night, in the preparations and the organising of this event.
